Frequently Asked Questions

I offer relational and couples/ partners/ polycule therapy, sex therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, support groups, coaching, and consultation. My approach is collaborative and blends depth psychotherapy, somatic therapies, IFS, EFT, structural family therapy, narrative therapy, and psychoeducation. The care I provide is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and strengths-based. Please reach out to discuss how I can help you.

I work with individuals, couples/ partners, nontraditional relationship structures, and family systems throughout all stages of the life cycle. Areas of diverse sexuality and gender are my primary focus, specializing in working with those who are: LGBTQIA+, nonmonogamous, kinky, neurodivergent, chronically ill or disabled, navigating fertility/ family-planning, exploring identity, or managing major life transitions.

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #156522), I hold a Master of Science in Counseling and am registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. This means I am fully qualified to provide psychotherapy independently to individuals, couples/ partners/ polycules, families, and groups.

To ensure you receive the most thoughtful and high-quality care, I practice under the clinical supervision of Nicole (Niki) Khanna, LMFT (#122099). Clinical supervision simply means I regularly collaborate with a senior licensed therapist to reflect on my practice, stay grounded, and offer you the deepest level of support.

  • Telehealth: I offer secure, confidential video therapy sessions to anyone residing in California.

  • In-Person: I have limited in-person availability in Oakland, CA

Therapy with me is warm, direct, collaborative, and adaptive. Our initial sessions are about building genuine trust and mapping out what healing and resonance look like for you.

  • Standard Sessions: 50 minutes, typically weekly.

  • Extended / Advanced Sessions: For couples, multi-partner systems, or deeper relational processing, 75- to 90-minute or more frequent sessions are available so we don’t have to rush through complex work.

Absolutely. Your privacy and trust are central to this work. What you share in session is legally protected by HIPAA and California licensing standards. The very few exceptions to confidentiality involve safety (such as imminent risk of severe harm to yourself or others, or child/elder abuse), which we will discuss together openly before we begin.

It’s completely normal for one person in a relationship to feel ready for therapy before everyone else is. I’m always open to having an introductory consultation call with your partner(s) or family members to answer their questions, ease any hesitation, and help them decide if working together feels comfortable and right for them.

My fees reflect standard rates for specialized relational and sex therapists in the Bay Area. I strongly believe in making therapy accessible where possible, so I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots in my practice, prioritizing trans, BIPOC, and lower-income community members. If you need sliding-scale care, please ask about current availability during our consultation call.

My standard rates are: $200/50 minute individual or $210/ 50 minute couples, $255/75 minute couples, $335/90 minute polycule, and $50-$75/per person for group sessions.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill health insurance directly. However, if your insurance plan offers out-of-network mental health coverage, I am happy to provide you with a monthly Superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit for potential reimbursement.

If life comes up and you need to reschedule or cancel, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Because your session time is held exclusively for you, appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice (or missed sessions) are billed at the full session rate.

Starting therapy is a collaborative, step-by-step process designed to feel clear, supportive, and grounded from day one:

  • 1. Reach Out: Begin by filling out the Contact Form on my site or clicking the Book Free Consult button to schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation. You’ll receive an email invitation with meeting details, along with two quick forms (a Demographics Form and a Telehealth Consent) via SimplePractice to complete before we speak.

  • 2. Connect: During our consultation, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and ensure we feel like a great fit. (For couples, partners, or families: it’s completely okay if not every person can attend this initial call.) If another approach or specialty suits you better, I am always happy to connect you with trusted practitioners in my network.

  • 3. Begin & Map Our Path: Once we decide to work together, we’ll schedule your initial intake appointment. You’ll complete a few standard intake forms online (about 15 minutes) prior to meeting. In our first session, we’ll explore your history, clarify your goals, and begin shaping a flexible treatment roadmap tailored to your specific emotional and logistical needs.

  • 4. Ongoing Growth & Integration: Clients typically begin with weekly sessions, transitioning to biweekly meetings when clinically appropriate. While early work can often bring some immediate relief, lasting relational healing and somatic integration deepen over time. A consistent weekly container offers a steady anchor for your nervous system to settle, unmask, and safely process what you carry.

Throughout our work, you will cultivate deep self-awareness, expand your capacity for intimacy and joy, and build practical tools for conflict and connection. As you build self-trust and step into authentic alignment, the clarity and ease you develop in session naturally ripples outward—transforming your relationship with yourself and enriching how you show up in your relationships, communities, and chosen families.
