What considerations are made in forming groups?

Support groups often are skills-oriented, expression-oriented, or a combination of both. They are usually organized around a shared identity, need, or diagnosis. In forming groups, I consider: (1) what topic(s) would be of most use to my clients and what needs would it fill?, (2) what is the minimum number of participants needed to make our dialogue most valuable?, and (3) how often do we want to meet? The first support group session creates the container of the group, as well as involving introductions and trust-building activities.

I am currently enrolling for two groups: (1) Art Processing: Anxiety, Depression, and/or PTSD, and (2) People in Relationship with Someone Avoidantly/ Dismissively Attached. We can explore more of what these might look like in our free Q&A phone call.
